Culture Push Summer 2019

I spent my summer working as an intern for Culture Push this summer (2019). I did a variety of different work for them; the main focuses being photography, and web and graphic design. The major work I did for them was for their 10th annual benefit, photo archiving for their website, and documentation of Fellows events.

Culture Push Benefit 2019

Culture Push celebrated their 10th year this summer at their annual benefit. This was my first major event working with them, In preparation for the event I made certificates for some of the available raffle prizes, and programs for the event. I spent the day helping setting up, and spent the night taking photos of the event.

Photo Archive

Culture Push had years of photos stored in Flickr that were no longer viewed often or linked to from their website; so my task was to think of a new layout to showcase these archived photos on their website. I created new pages for each of the photo albums as well as a page that links to all of the new galleries.

Free Black Women's Library: Governor's Island

Rather than explain, I'll let you read active Culture Push fellow's Olaronke Akinmowo's words yourself: "an interactive mobile trading library that features a collection of 1200 books written by Black women, as well as performance, poetry readings, film screenings, creative workshops and critical conversation." I attended and documented the most recent instance of the Free Black Women's Library on Governor's Island this summer.
